Shangri-La partners with Last Prisoner Project to raise money and awareness of unjust incarceration
Shangri-La Dispensaries is partnering with Last Prisoner Project to raise funds for the nonprofit’s efforts to help those dealing with the consequences of the war on cannabis through incarceration while a legal market thrives. Last Prisoner Project works to repair these harms through legal intervention, constituent support, direct advocacy, and policy change.
“There are too many people unjustly serving prison sentences for activities now permitted and encouraged. We’re so pleased to partner with Last Prisoner Project to help correct this injustice,” said Nevil Patel, CEO of Shangri-La.
Shangri-La will donate $1 per purchase on Asteroid All-in-One disposable vapes at Shangri-La Dispensaries and valued partner dispensaries throughout Connecticut during October through December, expecting to raise thousands of dollars for the effort.
Last Prisoner Project’s Executive Director, Stephanie Shepard, says: “Cannabis justice is personal to me. Behind every cannabis conviction is a person, a family, and a life impacted by a system that is finally changing. For years, advocates, impacted families, and community leaders have pushed to ensure that legalization includes relief for those still serving time or living with a criminal record for conduct that is now legal. Partnerships like this ensure that LPP can continue to remind lawmakers around the country that legalization is not justice; undoing the harms caused by prohibition is.”
About Last Prisoner Project
